From our practice owner, Rachel Elder, a reflection on 2025 and exciting updates for 2025 with Connected Couples Counseling.
"It is wild to be in a new year and reflecting on 2024 and how much life has been lived in the past 5 years for me as I now reflect on years based on the age of my child who we welcomed into their 5th year of life at the end of December. Fun fact, I started my work with couples a month after giving birth to my daughter so the practice is also technically five years old now too.
I found a picture from the first day of private practice and coming back home to my daughter.
2024 felt amazing in some ways and very challenging in others. As you know, I started building a small group practice back in 2023 and it has been a journey. It has been challenging to market a group versus just yourself and there has been a lot of trial and error along the way. I am always grateful for what I learn in the process even if it’s not always successful. With that said, 2025 will still be working to fill the spots in Dionne's schedule that are still available AND we are welcoming a clinical intern who officially begins on January 8th with our practice.
Meghann Carvin will see adolescents, young adults, couples, and families virtually and is currently available on Mondays through Wednesdays from 4-7pm. Her rate for sessions is $50 and she can provide reduced rates from there. She will be supervised by me through her internship and will be trained in many modalities during that time. She is level 1 and 2 Gottman Trained already as it is a requirement that our interns complete this before day one of the internship.
Dionne Miller also has openings for couples in our practice virtually, too. She is our life-transitions couple therapist and is pursuing additional training in sex therapy and the developmental model in 2025.
I have also begun offering immersive therapy sessions which are longer and focused on rewiring attachment in couples and I truly love it! I thought two hours would feel so long, yet it goes by so quickly; it’s been incredible to work with couples in this new model and see the impact it has had on them.
In addition to that news, we have a few other opportunities for the community in 2025.
7 Principles for Making Marriage Work Workshop
We will be facilitating another workshop in person on July 18th-19th, 2025 in Burien, WA. There was feedback from our workshop in November that it was too much info for one day so we have divided it into two days. Friday evening from 6-9 and Saturday from 9-6. Early bird registration is available until March 1st for $150 per couple before it rises to its normal rate of $200 per couple. If you know of clients, friends, or family seeking an opportunity locally to grow their marriage, we would be grateful for the recommendation.
There will also be one in November in Bellingham, WA again. Official date TBD.
Monthly Virtual Networking Group for Therapists
In October, I had the idea to do a virtual networking group which then grew into another one in December and now is going to be facilitated monthly. If you are interested in joining, you can sign up here to be notified of each month’s date and time as I do rotate to try and give opportunities for others to join.
Monthly Lunch and Learns
Our team is going to present monthly lunch and learns as a free resource. This will be virtual and recorded so those who register each month can catch the recording if they miss it or cannot attend. The topic will rotate and will be focused on couples and relationships. https://rachel-elder.kit.com/95d64841cb
As always, we are so grateful for the support from all of our clients, colleagues, and family. We are getting to do this beautiful work because of their support."
